'Ditch the switch': US House approves permanent Daylight Saving Time

The US House passed a bill to make Daylight Saving Time permanent with a 308-117 vote.

The change would end the twice-yearly clock changes in most of the United States.

Proponents, including the White House, argued it would provide more daylight during active hours.

States could opt out if their legislatures act before the bill's enactment.

The bill still requires Senate passage and the president's signature to become law.
