Former Biden Covid adviser says lab leak is the most likely origin of Covid-19

Former White House Covid-19 Response Coordinator Dr Ashish Jha now says the Covid-19 pandemic was 'more likely' caused by an accidental lab leak than natural transmission.

Speaking to CNN's Dana Bash on Sunday, Jha said his view evolved after reviewing more information over the past few years, but stressed there is no definitive proof.

Jha agreed with a social media post by commentator Jamie Metzl, who argued Covid-19 originated from the Wuhan Institute of Virology.

Jha clarified he believes the incident was accidental, not deliberate, and there is no evidence the virus was engineered.

The origin debate continues since 2020, with natural transmission from a Wuhan wildlife market initially leading, but lab leak hypothesis gaining attention over time.
