Faridabad: Closed shop’s canopy collapse leaves two dead in Ballabhgarh

A canopy and concrete lintel collapsed from a closed roadside shop in Faridabad's Ballabhgarh near Chawla Colony.

Two people, Amarjeet (27) of Munger and Santosh (24) of Bhagalpur (Bihar), were killed.

The victims were visiting their sister in Sarai, stopped at the closed shop for tea and snacks, and sat on the stairs when the structure collapsed.

Police said the shop had been closed for three days, appeared old and dilapidated, and recent rain may have weakened it.

Bodies were taken to Badshah Khan civil hospital; autopsy on Thursday; legal action depends on family's complaint.
