The Delhi High Court refused to fix a timeline for concluding the trial in the Shraddha Walkar murder case, citing that proceedings are already ongoing on a day-to-day basis.
The court was hearing a petition by the deceased's brother, Shreejay Vijay Walkar, who argued the trial was being delayed and sought a speedier conclusion.
The accused, Aaftab Amin Poonawala, allegedly strangled Shraddha Walkar on May 18, 2022, dismembered her body, and disposed of parts across Delhi, as per the chargesheet.
The court noted that testimonies of 157 out of over 200 witnesses have been concluded, and directed ministries to expedite examination of overseas witnesses when required.
