13-year-old girl killed as second-floor balcony of a 37-year-old building crashes in Mumbra

year-old Aasma Kadar Sheikh was killed when the second-floor balcony of the 37-year-old Faiyaz Building in Mumbra collapsed onto the first-floor balcony.
The collapse occurred around 7 pm on July 28, 2026, trapping six people under debris; all six were rescued by teams from the Thane Municipal Corporation's Regional Disaster Management Cell, Fire Brigade, and other agencies.
Aasma Kadar Sheikh was rushed to Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Hospital in Kalwa, where she was declared dead on arrival.
The building had been classified as a C2-category structure; around 70 to 80 residents were evacuated and temporarily housed at a nearby TMC school.
Officials including Thane Deputy Mayor Krishna Patil and Oppositon Leader Shanu Pathan inspected the site.
