Noida authority converts defunct borewells with non-functional submersible pumps into rainwater harvesting pits in parks in sectors 51 and 82.

Pilot project at Children's Park in Sector 51 uses pit filled with sand, coarse sand, and stones of varying sizes to filter rainwater into aquifers.

Similar conversion at Central Park in Sector 82 aims to reduce waterlogging and recharge groundwater.

Residents' welfare associations urged the Noida authority to regularly maintain the structures.
