RDJ's role led to Chris Evans' return as Captain America for 'Avengers: Doomsday'

Chris Evans will reprise his role as Captain America in 'Avengers: Doomsday', his first MCU appearance since 'Avengers: Endgame' (2019).

Evans rejected over a dozen Marvel pitches over eight years, including a proposed Nomad storyline by Lou D'Esposito and Kevin Feige, before accepting.

Robert Downey Jr.'s return as Doctor Doom and the Russo brothers' pitch convinced Evans to return to the MCU.

Evans aims to make Steve Rogers' story impactful in the film, which will introduce returning X-Men stars.

'Avengers: Doomsday' is scheduled for release on December 18.
