School holiday extended in Kashmir, Amarnath yatra suspended as Met forecasts downpour

Kashmir school holidays extended by three days through July 22 due to adverse weather forecast.

Amarnath yatra temporarily suspended from both Pahalgam and Baltal routes as a precaution starting July 19.

Meteorological department forecasts adverse weather spell from July 20 to July 23 with light to heavy rainfall across Jammu & Kashmir.

Landslides, mudslides, flash floods are expected in vulnerable areas including Pirpanjal Range, Anantnag, Pahalgam, Gulmarg, and others.

Surface transport disruptions are anticipated on major roads including the Jammu-Srinagar national highway.
