Myanmar's Aung San Suu Kyi meets Red Cross official in rare appearance since 2021 coup

Myanmar's military-backed government announced that detained former leader Aung San Suu Kyi met Arnaud de Baecque, the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) representative in Myanmar, in Naypyitaw.
The meeting marked one of Suu Kyi's rare interactions with the outside world since the 2021 coup; photographs released by the government show her shaking hands with de Baecque.
Suu Kyi has not appeared in public since her arrest on February 1, 2021; the last official images were released in April after she was moved from prison to house arrest.
International pressure continues for access to Suu Kyi, with ASEAN members and her son Kim Aris demanding proof of her well-being.
