Cybercrook uses SIR bait to dupe 82-year-old of Rs 3 lakh
An 82-year-old man in Bengaluru lost Rs 3 lakh to a cybercrook posing as an Election Commission of India (ECI) official.
The fraudster contacted the victim on July 30, claiming his Special Intensive Revision (SIR) form was rejected and offered assistance.
The victim clicked a link sent by the fraudster, entered personal details, and attempted a Rs 5 payment, which failed.
The fraudster then sent a QR code, and the victim later found Rs 3.4 lakh transferred from his account in multiple instalments.
