Shubman Gill scored 80 off 75 balls at Edgbaston before retiring hurt due to cramps and a hamstring issue.

India chased down England's 258 with an unbeaten 102-run stand between Axar Patel (57*) and Washington Sundar (52*).

India lost Rohit Sharma (11) and Virat Kohli (5) early, then Gill and Shreyas Iyer added 101 runs for the third wicket.

Joe Root scored 76 and Liam Dawson made a career-best 68, rescuing England from 107/6 to 258 all out.
