Jaipur Development Authority temporarily halts action against 'illegal' commercial establishments

The Jaipur Development Authority (JDA) has temporarily paused action against illegal commercial establishments on Jaipur-Ajmer Road after its Appellate Tribunal granted interim relief, staying execution of notices until a final decision.

The tribunal set September 8 as the next hearing date, and Presiding Officer Mahavir Prasad Gupta passed the interim order on July 30.

JDA issued notices on July 24 to a resort and other establishments allegedly operating on agricultural land without requisite permissions, violating land-use norms.

The action follows Supreme Court directions on March 25, 2026, requiring municipal bodies and development authorities in state capitals and Union Territories to survey and act against commercial activities on agricultural or residential land.

JDA noted that the interim relief is standard judicial practice and does not constitute final adjudication; legality will be determined after the tribunal's final order.
