Volunteers launch week-long plantation drive along Noida drain

Environment groups and volunteers launched a week-long plantation drive along a drain near Noida's Sector 137 to create a green buffer and mitigate pollution.

The drive, organized by Lions Club Delhi Veg as part of Lions International's Environment Fortnight, includes groups such as Volunteer 137, YSS Foundation, and Ekal Abhiyan.

More than 70 members and volunteers participated in the first phase, focusing on developing the wetland along the drain behind Sector 137 metro station.

Plans include planting thousands of bamboo and jamun saplings and hundreds of medicinal plants over the next week.

The final phase on August 8 will feature a large-scale plantation at Wetland Park in Sector 54 and distribution of medicinal plants at the community centre in Sector 23.
