State launches hotel-like star rating system for public hospital services

The Maharashtra government has approved a hotel-like five-star rating system for all 623 government-run hospitals.

Hospitals will be evaluated on 10 parameters including service availability, diagnostic facilities, cleanliness, and patient satisfaction.

Each criterion will be assessed on a complete/incomplete basis, with cumulative scores determining 0-5 star ratings.

The public health department will implement the framework and drive quality improvement.
