Eight juveniles aged 14-17 escaped from a government-run observation home in Mahasamund district, Chhattisgarh, early Monday.
The escape occurred after the boys removed iron bars from a window; a search operation is underway.
Superintendent Aparna Srivastava said the escapees include juveniles from Saraipali, Mahasamund, Fingeshwar, Balodabazar-Bhatapara, Kurud, and Kalahandi (Odisha).
The escapees were held for offences including Excise Act, theft, rape, and narcotics.
This follows a July 13 escape of four inmates from a 'place of safety' in Bilaspur and a June 23 escape of eleven juveniles in Surguja district.
