Indians trafficked to cybercrime hubs in Golden Triangle tortured with electric shock

APG report reveals Indian nationals among victims trafficked to cybercrime hubs in Myanmar, Lao PDR, and Cambodia, run by Chinese syndicates.

Victims were tortured with electric shock, confined in dark rooms, and subjected to physical and mental abuse.

Indians were recruited with fake job offers, paid Rs 50,000-70,000 upfront, and transported via Thailand.

Victims were forced to run scams like investment fraud, romance scams, and illegal online gambling.

The study involved debriefings of 15 repatriated Indians and was led by Indonesia and UNODC.
