Below normal rain likely in most parts of Himachal in August, September: IMD

The India Meteorological Department (IMD), Shimla, predicts below normal rainfall in most parts of Himachal Pradesh during August-September 2026.

Above-normal rainfall is likely over many parts of Lahaul-Spiti district, some parts of Chamba district, and some parts of northern Kinnaur.

Mean maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to be above normal over many parts of the state in August 2026.

Himachal Pradesh received normal rainfall (6% excess) in July 2026, with 272.5 mm actual rainfall against 255.9 mm normal.

Heavy showers are predicted till August 8, with a yellow alert in various districts.
