Jammu and Kashmir: Mehbooba faces heat over Jantar Mantar comment, opposition accuses her justifying use of force in UT

PDP chief Mehbooba Mufti said at a Jantar Mantar protest that force in Kashmir is understandable because militancy exists there.

Chief Minister Omar Abdullah demanded an apology, arguing her remarks justify suppression and deter Kashmiris from protesting.

PDP legislator Waheed Para claimed the comment was misrepresented, saying she questioned the justification for force in Delhi vs. Kashmir.

Opposition parties including NC and PC condemned the statement, citing past use of pellet guns and bloodshed.

The controversy centers on Mehbooba's phrase 'banta hai' (it is understandable) regarding the use of force in Kashmir.
