Build toilets for women in courts in 6 weeks: Supreme Court

The Supreme Court mandated states to construct washrooms for women lawyers in all court complexes within six weeks.

The bench of CJI Surya Kant and Justices Joymalya Bagchi and V Mohana rejected pleas of fund paucity for the construction.

The Court suggested states could raise additional funds by increasing levies on liquor and tobacco products.

The Court requested the Attorney General to provide feedback on creating a fund for this purpose within six weeks.
