3 graduates build robot for Indian soldiers in Siachen
in5points
Three SRM University mechatronics graduates founded Torus Robotics in 2019 to develop indigenous defence technology for Indian soldiers.
They created the MARS UGV, an electric unmanned ground vehicle for surveillance, logistics, and explosive handling in extreme terrains like Siachen Glacier.
The robot is designed to reduce physical burden on soldiers and strengthen India's self-reliance in defence technology.
The startup has been recognised by DRDO, iDEX, and national innovation programmes.
