Students stage ‘plate morcha’ over delays in mid-meal scheme

Students and parents in Thane and Palghar districts staged a 'plate morcha' to protest delays in the PM-Poshan scheme (formerly mid-day meal).
The Shramjivi Sanghatana wrote to the chief minister stating schools have received neither foodgrains nor funds since the new academic year began.
Activist Prakash Khodaka reported that of 501 schools in Shahapur, only 161 received foodgrains in June, with some schools last receiving stock in April.
Parents demanded action against officials, suppliers, and contractors responsible for the delays, and urged temporary arrangements to ensure meals continue.
The group also demanded a report after regular meal services resume and a strong district-level monitoring system to prevent future delays.
