Bihar municipal officer beaten to death by his driver after dispute, police say

Vimal Kumar, executive officer of Dehri-Dalmianagar Municipal Council in Rohtas district, Bihar, was beaten to death by his driver Mithilesh Kumar on Saturday evening near Dhanauti Bridge in Barun police station area.

The driver initially claimed unidentified motorcycle-borne assailants attacked them, but during interrogation he confessed to murdering the officer with an iron lever pipe after an altercation over stopping for urination.

Police said the driver was incensed over alleged repeated denial of leave and being overworked by the officer; the crime weapon was fished out from a canal near the crime scene.
