Bengaluru law student stabbed to death over rejected marriage proposal

Amrutha, a law student in Bengaluru, died after being stabbed by Surya, the brother of Dhanush, on July 13, 2026.

Amrutha had rejected Dhanush's marriage proposal after learning he was previously married, divorced, and had a child.

Surya stabbed Amrutha in the chest and back at her residence in Kodihalli on HAL Road.

Local residents apprehended Surya after the attack; both brothers were arrested by JB Nagar police.

Amrutha succumbed to her injuries on July 15 after over 48 hours of treatment.
