Day before bypoll result, Congress suspends former Datia MLA Rajendra Bharti

The All India Congress Committee suspended former Datia MLA Rajendra Bharti from primary membership on August 3, 2026.

Rajendra Bharti was disqualified from the Legislative Assembly in April 2026 after a Delhi special court sentenced him to three years' imprisonment in a fraud case.

The suspension came after Congress candidate Ghanshyam Singh accused Bharti of colluding with BJP leaders and attempting to sabotage the party's prospects in the Datia by-election.

The Datia by-election results were scheduled for August 3, 2026.
