Writers Guild sues to block US Paramount deal: 'Would eliminate competition, writers will be paid less'

Writers Guild of America filed a lawsuit to block Paramount's merger with Skydance Media.

The suit argues the deal would reduce competition and lower writer compensation.

Paramount outbid Netflix for Warner Bros. and claims the merged entity would compete with Netflix, Amazon, and Apple.

Paramount pledged to release at least 30 films annually with a minimum 45-day theatrical window to gain approval.
