Maharashtra Plans World-Class Koyna Backwater Festival With Carnival, Floating Market & Adventure Activities

Maharashtra government plans to make Koyna Backwater Festival 2026 an international tourism event.

Tourism Minister Shambhuraj Desai directed officials to expand scale and add attractions like carnival, floating market, and helicopter rides.

The festival is proposed to be held between Christmas and New Year.

Preparations follow Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde's vision to enhance the event.

Officials reviewed previous edition and issued directions on tent accommodation, water sports, laser shows, and drone shows.
