Suspected cattle smuggler held after Nuh shootout, aide escapes

A suspected cattle smuggler was injured and his associate escaped after an exchange of fire with police in Nuh, Haryana, on July 21, 2026.

Police set up a checkpoint on the Akera-Sikrava road after a tip-off about cattle being transported to Rajasthan; the suspects rammed barricades and fled.

The suspects abandoned their pickup van near the Ujina-Sangel canal area and tried to flee on foot; five cattle were rescued from the vehicle.

The injured suspect, a resident of Rupdaka in Palwal, suffered a bullet injury to his left leg and is being treated at Shaheed Hasan Khan Mewati Government Medical College and Hospital in Nalhar, Nuh.

An FIR was registered under Section 109(1) (attempt to murder) of Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, the Arms Act, and the Haryana Gauvansh Sanrakshan and Gausamvardhan Act.
