Pawana Dam reaches 92.27% capacity

in5points
Pawana Dam live storage rose to 92.27% after fresh rainfall in its catchment area, up from 16% in June.
The Water Resources Department imposed a 15% water cut from 19 June when storage was critically low.
Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation reduced daily water supply by 1–1.5 hours following the water cut.
Despite improved storage, the 15% water cut will continue and only be withdrawn if the dam reaches 100% capacity by October.
Pimpri-Chinchwad requires ~650 MLD daily; the Water Resources Department cites El Niño uncertainty for continued conservation measures.
