52-yr-old woman swept away after flash flood in Kupwara

Naseema Begum, 52, was swept away by flash floods caused by a cloudburst in Himli area of Lolab in Kupwara district, Kashmir.

Her body was recovered 1 km downstream at Shahabad after a search operation, according to police officer Bashir Ahmad.

Flash floods also damaged houses and agricultural fields in the area, and uprooted trees.

Flash floods were also reported in Shopian and Anantnag districts, with heavy rains causing water to enter houses in Badrhama village, prompting evacuations.

The Srinagar-Jammu national highway (NH-44) was closed for traffic at 5 pm due to heavy rainfall making the road slushy in Udhampur.
