Madras HC’s appeal on online relationships urges youngsters to exercise caution

Madras High Court issued a public appeal urging youngsters and families to exercise extreme caution in online or technology-facilitated relationships.
The appeal was issued in English, Tamil, and Hindi by Justices Anand Venkatesh and KK Ramakrishnan at the Madurai bench.
The court advised against sharing intimate photographs or videos through electronic means, even with trusted individuals.
The advisory was given while dismissing a man's appeal against his conviction for rape and sexual assault, where he used Facebook and WhatsApp to lure the victim.
The convict was sentenced to life imprisonment until natural death for sexually assaulting and blackmailing the victim with secretly filmed recordings.
