Textile trader held for multi-state railway ticket racket

  1. Textile merchant Amrish Ishwarlal Thakkar, 41, from Dadar, and his brother Sagar were arrested for a multi-state railway ticket racket using forged VIP quota letters.

  2. The racket forged letterheads of politicians, senior railway officers, and the governor's ADC to get tickets confirmed under the VIP quota.

  3. Malabar Hill police arrested six people in total, including Tariq Khan, Deepak Kumar Yadav, Vinay Rawat, and Shatrunjay Yadav.

  4. Thakkar ran the racket for 3-4 years, had over 200 agents, and his network extended across Mumbai, Gujarat, and Uttar Pradesh divisions of the Western Railway.

  5. Police seized 12 mobile phones, 16 SIM cards, and 70 credit/debit cards from the accused.
