PMC orders action over illegal tree felling at PL Deshpande Garden

The Pune Municipal Corporation's standing committee ordered strict action over alleged illegal felling of a tree at PL Deshpande Garden on Sinhagad Road.

Parvati police filed a case against a PMC tree inspector and three others for cutting the tree without permission and transporting the timber.

The case followed activists intercepting vehicles carrying tree parts near Swargate and discovering the felled tree at the garden.

Permission given was only to collect a fallen tree, but a contractor cut the tree without authorisation and tried to transport the wood.

The security guard at the garden was replaced, and an internal inquiry is underway alongside police investigation.
