How dementia is being defeated

Eric Stallard, an actuary and academic, found that the proportion of elderly Americans with dementia fell from 3 in 10 in the 1980s to 1 in 10 by 2024.

Between 1988 and 2015, the share of older people diagnosed with dementia fell by 13% per decade across six North American and European countries, per a study by Frank Wolters of Erasmus Medical Centre.

The declining dementia incidence contradicts earlier expectations of an intensifying plague of the condition.
