Bihar agriculture department plans a backup crop contingent plan after August 10 if rainfall fails to improve paddy cultivation.

Weak July rainfall has affected districts in Magadh and Munger divisions, with overall paddy coverage in the state at 70% as of July 30.

Bihar has seen a rainfall deficit of 42% from June 1 to July 30, with a 40% deficit in July.

Paddy transplantation is low in districts like Jamui (11%), Gaya (25%), Sheikhpura (31%), Banka (34%), Nawada (33%), Jehanabad (48%), Lakhisarai (46%), and Begusarai (52%).

North Bihar and Seemanchal areas have higher transplantation rates, from 66% to 100% (Kishanganj).
