Carson Hocevar delights fans with pole-winning run for Brickyard 400

Carson Hocevar won the pole for the Brickyard 400 at Indianapolis Motor Speedway, his second Busch Light Pole Award of the season and third of his career.

Hocevar's lap at 186.598 mph in the No. 77 Chevrolet edged Spire Motorsports teammate Daniel Suarez by 0.056 seconds.

The pole came after Hamlin denied Hocevar at Michigan in June, but Hocevar called Indianapolis his favorite track.

Spire Motorsports placed all three cars in the top six, with Michael McDowell sixth and owner Jeff Dickerson, an Indianapolis native, celebrating the team's performance.

Toyota's Tyler Reddick qualified third, and defending race winner Bubba Wallace will start 29th.
