FSSAI suspends water firm's licence, bans sale of dietary supplement

  1. FSSAI suspended the licence of M/S Matri Drinking Water, Gomati, Tripura, after inspectors found unhygienic conditions, rusted RO tanks, and missing records.

  2. FSSAI banned the manufacture, storage, distribution, and sale of Venolex Forte, a dietary supplement by M/S Noble Healthcare, Mohali, for containing unpermitted ingredients.

  3. The supplement contained pharmacologically active ingredients: calcium dobesilate, diosmin, and Euphorbia prostrata, which are not allowed in food supplements.

  4. The product's vitamin C content (90 mg) exceeded the Recommended Dietary Allowance prescribed under ICMR-NIN Guidelines, 2020.

  5. FSSAI issued the prohibition order under Section 36(3)(b) of the Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006.
