Beyond beer: German Embassy showcases Germany's wines at exclusive Delhi tasting

German Ambassador Dr Philipp Ackermann hosted a wine tasting at the Ambassador’s Residence in New Delhi, with sommelier Manuela Lo Conte leading the guided tasting.

The tasting featured German wines including Pinot Noir, Riesling, and Merlot, with insights into Germany’s winemaking heritage and northern latitude.

Ackermann linked the event to the proposed India-European Union Free Trade Agreement, which could reduce tariffs and make European wines more affordable in India.

Lo Conte encouraged looking beyond Germany’s beer reputation, noting that German wines are gaining attention for their freshness, elegance, and character.

Guests included hoteliers, restaurateurs, importers, and wine enthusiasts, who rated wines on tasting cards during the event.
