Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma announced that filmmaker Aditya Dhar has been approached to direct a Hindi biopic on Lachit Borphukan.

Lachit Borphukan is remembered for defeating a larger Mughal army led by Raja Ram Singh I using guerrilla tactics and knowledge of the Brahmaputra River.

He was born on November 24, 1622, in Charaideo, and served as Borphukan under King Chakradhwaj Singha, tasked with reclaiming Guwahati from the Mughals.

The biopic aims to introduce Lachit Borphukan's story to audiences across India and the world, as stated by the Chief Minister during a Facebook Live session.
