Geno Segers will not join Broadway's Hadestown as Hades, announced August 2, after backlash over anti-trans videos.
Hadestown producers and Segers mutually agreed he would not join the production; no reason was given.
Resurfaced videos titled "TRANS FAIRNESS?", "NO MORE TRANS?", and "HE… I MEAN SHE BROKE THE RECORD" featured Segers speaking against trans women in women's sports and mocking pronoun sharing.
Segers made his Instagram private and removed videos from his YouTube channel.
Segers is known for roles in "Yellowstone", "Banshee", and "Pair of Kings", and previously played Mufasa in Disney's Australian production of "The Lion King".
