Badrinath temple donation theft: Retired BKTC employee arrested by SIT

Chamoli police's SIT arrested retired BKTC employee Rajendra Chauhan for allegedly stealing cash from Badrinath temple donation room.

CCTV footage showed Chauhan pocketing money on three occasions: June 22, 25, and 29, 2026.

Chauhan retired on June 30; he was arrested on July 17 and will be produced in court.

Suspended BKTC employee Pramod Nautiyal was arrested earlier; police suspect the two conspired in the theft.

Nautiyal was seen on CCTV stealing money on four donation counting days; no stolen cash or valuables have been recovered.
