Bank holidays in August 2026: Where and when banks will remain closed this month

Banks in India will remain closed on multiple dates in August 2026 due to regional festivals and national observances, including Independence Day on 15 August.

Bank holidays vary by state: for example, 4 August is a holiday only in Tripura for Ker Puja, while 25 August is a holiday in Kerala and Andhra Pradesh for Milad-Un-Nabi and First Onam.

Banks will also be shut on the second and fourth Saturdays of August, as per Reserve Bank of India guidelines.

Digital banking services such as internet banking, mobile apps, ATMs, and UPI will remain available during the holidays.

Branch-based services like cheque processing, demand draft issuance, and large cash transactions will be unavailable on bank holidays; customers are advised to plan these transactions in advance.
