2009 Poll CD Case: Uddhav Thackeray To Appear Before Kalyan Sessions Court Via Video Conferencing On August 5

Shiv Sena (UBT) president Uddhav Thackeray will appear before the Kalyan Sessions Court via video conferencing on August 5, 2026, in a case related to an alleged controversial CD from the 2009 Lok Sabha elections.

Advocate Jayesh Vani clarified that Thackeray's appearance is virtual, not in person, contrary to speculation about his physical attendance at the court in Kalyan.

The CD allegedly contained a speech urging party workers to win the 2009 Kalyan Lok Sabha election by any means, including violence.

A complaint against Uddhav Thackeray, Eknath Shinde, Rajendra Deolekar, and another accused led to proceedings that have remained pending for over 17 years.

The Kalyan Sessions Court scheduled the next hearing for August 5, where further proceedings will be taken up.
