PMC earmarks ₹114.89 crore for Pune Grand Challenge Tour 2027 infrastructure

The Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) approved ₹114.89 crore for infrastructure upgrades for the Pune Grand Challenge Tour 2027 cycling event.

Funds will be diverted from ongoing road projects since the 2026-27 civic budget has no separate allocation for the event.

The standing committee cleared the proposal on Thursday, and it will now go to the general body for final approval.

Committee members raised concerns about potholes on roads repaired for a previous cycling event in January 2026, including stretches like Gokhale Chowk, Paud Phata, and Fergusson College Road.

The committee directed an independent technical audit of repaired roads and rectification of defects under the defect liability period at no extra cost.
