Punjab bets on crusher mining to boost revenue

in5points
The Punjab government has identified 133 crusher mining sites (CRMS) and granted environmental clearances for 18, all in Pathankot district.
Eight sites are operational, expected to generate ₹73 crore in royalty in the current financial year.
The state expects to supply 116 lakh tonnes of legal gravel once all identified sites become operational.
Punjab's mining revenue rose from ₹247 crore in 2022-23 to ₹288.75 crore in 2023-24, with sand mining revenue reaching ₹600 crore in 2025-26.
The Punjab Regulation of Crusher Units, Stockists and Retailers Act, 2025 governs the policy, requiring compulsory online registration and environmental compliance.
