PRTC conductor sacked for fake bills: Contract bus staff announce statewide strike from today

PRTC terminated contractual conductor Gurvinder Singh for alleged financial fraud involving fake bus stand fee receipts totaling ₹3,422.

The fraud was discovered when a cashier noticed a serial number mismatch between Gurvinder's receipt and others on the same Patran-Chandigarh route.

Gurvinder denied allegations, claiming false implication due to his active role in the contractual employees' union.

Contractual staff of PRTC, Punjab roadways, and PUNBUS announced a statewide strike starting Thursday in protest of the termination.

PRTC management conducted a departmental inquiry and terminated Gurvinder's services after his explanation was deemed unsatisfactory.
