Seaplane makes emergency landing near Washington before catching fire, all 11 on board accounted for

A Kenmore Air de Havilland DHC-3 Otter seaplane made an emergency landing in Shallow Bay near Sucia Island, Washington at about 5:15 PM PDT.

All 11 people on board (10 passengers and 1 pilot) were accounted for after a rescue operation involving the U.S. Coast Guard, Canadian, and local responders.

The seaplane caught fire after the emergency landing; an image released by the Coast Guard showed the plane on fire in the water.

Several patients were transported to local hospitals for medical evaluation and treatment, including two injured passengers to Bellingham and two to Orcas Island.

Kenmore Air CEO David Gudgel stated the airline is fully cooperating with investigating authorities.
