Clash between Chinese nationals in Sri Lanka points to ‘Triads’, organised cyber crime: Report

Two groups of Chinese nationals clashed in Colombo Port City on July 23, leading to abduction and murder.

The victim was associated with cyber fraud activities; two suspects arrested at Bandaranaike International Airport.

The attack involved around 20 armed Chinese nationals assaulting and abducting three men; one found dead with limbs tied and eyes bound.

The probe by Colombo Crimes Division points to Chinese organised crime syndicates (Triads) linked to cybercrime.

Sri Lanka has seen increased arrests of foreign nationals in cybercrime and financial fraud investigations.
