Craig Melvin misses Today show after studio intruder incident

Craig Melvin will be absent from the Today show next week and part of the following week, a planned break unrelated to the intruder incident.

A man entered NBC's New York studio on July 16, 2026, confronted Melvin while shouting racial slurs, and asked for Al Roker before being detained.

NBC MLS analyst Taylor Twellman will fill in for Melvin during his absence.

Savannah Guthrie is also stepping away from Today temporarily to film the Wordle game show.
