The world is entering a post-postcard era

The postcard is in terminal decline: only 8% of British adults now send postcards, according to English Heritage.

Postcards were historically significant: 10 million were sent to British intelligence during World War II for D-Day planning.

The first postcard was sent in 1840 by novelist Theodore Hook; Austria's postal service sold 'Correspondenz-Karten' starting in September 1869.

The rise of Instagram and digital communication has contributed to the decline of physical postcards.
