Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis announced a ₹3,200-crore flood management mission for Kolhapur and Sangli districts.
The mission is implemented under the Maharashtra Resilience Development Programme (MRDP) to strengthen long-term flood resilience.
It aims to increase rainwater storage capacity, improve carrying capacity of Krishna and Panchganga rivers, and upgrade stormwater drainage.
The mission will cover Kolhapur, Sangli, and Ichalkaranji, areas prone to severe monsoon flooding from the Krishna River.
Fadnavis thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, and the World Bank for their support.
